Dental bonding is a procedure in which a pliable composite resin plastic material is applied to the tooth surface and hardened with a special curing light. Bonding materials can be used as fillings to restore small areas that have had decay removed or as a cosmetic solution; dental bonding materials are often used to smooth chipped edges of teeth and to close small spaces between teeth.

Resin composite materials are mercury-free and come in a variety of shades to closely match your own teeth. While not as durable or long-lasting as porcelain crowns or veneers, bonding can be a less costly approach to achieve minor esthetic challenges in front teeth.
