Porcelain Crowns
Are you hiding your smile? Often patients with discolored teeth or aged crown and bridge work are self-conscious about their apearance - porcelain crowns are a beautiful, natural-looking way to bring strength and confidence back to your smile.
A crown or "cap" is used to cover a tooth that has been structurally
weakened due to decay, broken down fillings, or trauma. Crowns can be
designed with porcelain facings over metal or all-porcelain, depending on
biting forces and location of the tooth in the mouth.
Crown design begins with a thorough examination of the teeth and gums to determine your smile shape, size, symmetry and oral health. To prepare a tooth for a crown, we remove any decay or broken filling material and shape tooth structures to serve as support for the crown. We then take impressions and work with temporary crown materials and shade guides to make sure that we achieve your esthetic goals for your smile.
Our doctors then work closely with dental laboratory technicians to fabricate your custom-fitted crown and will evaluate the completed crown on appearance, fit, bite and speech before final placement.
